1991 Ford Explorer XLT review from North America

When I purchased it I had to replace the speedometer cable ($8.00), lower radiator hose ($12.99) and the power steering pump ($49.99). All very easy to do and expected maintenance.

Great SUV considering I heard some negative things about the 1991-1994 models.

Just purchased and I am now the 3rd owner. Paint, body and interior are in mint condition.

Very comfortable and roomy. Nice change from my previous Jeep Cherokee. All power and all motors still work.

First owner did have the tran. rebuilt which currently has 66,000 miles on it and is very strong.

Overall the engine power is great along with the handling.

First American car owned other than the Jeep (which we all know Jeeps last forever) and pretty impressed, but find it hard to trust it like a foreign.

Came with one cup holder, but open and wide floor space between the front sets allowed for a portable console that has two adjustable cup holders.

Gets about 285 miles to the tank.

AC works great and the front dash has 4 vents evenly spread out for great circulation.

Like anything if you properly take care of your car and do regular maintenance it will be very reliable. I was fortunate enough to have the 2 previous owners take great care of it.

I feel this SUV will easily go well into the 200,000 range with no major problems.

I would recommend this SUV to anyone looking for an inexpensive and roomy SUV. Great for families.
