1971 Chevrolet El Camino Custom review from North America
"Usefull, Fast, Headturner, Classic, Muscle Car and pickup truck all in one!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I bought the El Camino already with a crate engine in it. That engine ended up going bad so I threw in a 383 Stroker motor. Nothing else has failed.
General comments?
El Caminos are one of the coolest old school rides anyone can have. They look very unique and blend style and usefullness superbly. The previous owner removed the stock transmission and put in a 4 Speed muncie with low drag gears. Great on accelleration, but can't go over 80 on the freeway. The car handled like an old car usually does... untill I put on performance sway bars front and back. Also removed the air shocks and replaced with some decent KYB shocks. Now the handling is great! The bed comes in handy all the time and the cozyness of the cab is very cool. A great second car. You can turn it into a muscle car or leave it stock, the choice is yours, but El Caminos will always rule whatever roads they travel!
