2001 Volkswagen Passat GLS review from North America
"Great car that shines VWs beauty"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Normal warranty recalls that never affected this vehicle.
The trunk was slammed shut which broke latch, but covered even after warranty expired.
Tires at 58,000
Had new wheels put on (58,000 with tires) which makes car sweak, but not vw's fault (after-market wheels).
The speakers in rear left door rattled, but vw fixed at 60,000.
General comments?
Vw is awesome. This car is now 4 years old, but still looks brand new. Can keep forever. Luxury in a nice package. The only problem with vw is the service is relatively expense at dealer, but they take care of everything, even things they don't need to. The car was so great that we just, but another passat (2006 new style). Have three vws and can only say good things. The things that have gone wrong are little and usually cosmetic. VW is one of the last honest car companies (including all of their sub-brands) the only improvement is a less expense service department. But I guess great service comes at a little cost. The new passat replaced a brand new luxury Toyota that was junk. German cars are the way to go for luxury that is reliable and has lots of style.
