1989 Jaguar XJ40 Sovereign review from Australia and New Zealand
"The car is still a pleasure to drive and is the only one my wife doesn't get carsick in the back"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The dealer that serviced the car for fifteen years did almost nothing, but change the oil. As a result I had to replace broken hoses and belts that would have been spotted during normal servicing.
Aside from that the only real problem was the pinion seal replacement. No one seemed to be able to fit it properly.
General comments?
I have been told by a reputable service specialist that all the car needs to bring it up to pristine running is valve stem seals and steering rack overhaul. I don't think that is too bad for the Km it has done.
It does through the odd computer warning that comes to nil that scares you at the time, but ends up to be a computer glitch, but so does my compaq laptop.
