1999 Holden Calais VT review from Australia and New Zealand
"A beautiful HSV replica with all the bells and whistles that a Calais could give"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Right rear window control switch needed replacing.
Steering wheel vibration during braking.
Driver seat, side plastic cover needed repair.
Cd play often skipping regularly on uneven or bumpy roads.
Missing screws for engine cover plate.
General comments?
The Calais was fitted with an after market VX HSV body kit and 18 inch replica mags with rear spoiler.
The engine had been modified (re chipped, big bore exhaust, air intake modification and lowered suspension).
Due to the modifications a Dy-no test showed a 40 kW increase from stock standard.
Usual Calais bells and whistles with leather seats and upmarket stereo system.
The car looked immaculate all dressed up and appeared extra sporty due to lowered height. But was not forgiving with Cd skip on bumpy roads.
Although the automatic system was also tweaked there was still that somewhat sluggish acceleration at lower revs.
Good speed and overtaking qualities and awesome cornering at higher speeds.
In silver certainly a head turner.
