1989 Fiat Uno 70 SL 4 door review from Australia and New Zealand

"Fun for a Beginer"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The car being 15 years old does have a few problems, but it's a great litle car to learn to drive on and to learn how to take car of a car as everything seems to be easily asccesible. I have managed to do all the repairs on this vehicle myself and I can't really say I have a good knowledge of cars. The Haynes Manual really helped though.

The ignition system failed, cost $300, replaced it ourselves.

Drivers electric window doesn't seem to work, even after replacement it got stuck after a week, gave up on fixing it.

Engine seals are a bit old so oil leaks out sometime, donno why, but even the mechanic isn't botherd with it. Its probably because theres too much oil in the engine.

The lowest edge on the door seems to want to rust, amazingly its just happening on one door. But this has thaught me how to repair rust on cars, and repaint over scrached areas something I wouldn't want to do for the first time on my dads brand new Subaru.

General comments?

BOUGHT IT FOR $300!!!

Well all my friends seem to laugh at it, but I really love it, you can do soo much with this car, sure its not the msot economical 1.3L car you can get, sure its only got 70hp, but having a manual transmission just makes it FUN.

I find it quite comfortable. It really is a great car, especially for a beginer, it has no power steering, no hydraulic clutch, it may seem hard to shift gears at first, but woah, after you know how to drive it its just amazing.

The best part is, when you upgrade to a newer car, which has all the hydraulics and stuff, its soo much easier to drive that car because you learnt on something that is a bit more complicated.

I really like it, it's a nice simple car, I'm only selling it because I have the money to afford a newer car.
