I too own a 93 dodge dakota with the 318.
I purchased it from my brother who was the original owner. I have nothing bad to say about it except I wish I got better gas mileage. My brother still wishes he never sold it to me. He keeps on telling me how much faster my truck is compared to his new dodge.
I have 168000 miles on it and my brother says it runs as good now as when he bought it in 93. If you ever have a chance to buy a 93 with the 318 I strongly suggest you buy it, I know I will never sell it and I am wondering how many miles this truck can handle.
