1994 Renault Espace J63 review from Serbia
"Getting addicted to it; pitty Renault doesn't make it properly anymore"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Since I've bought it second hand, I've immediatelly changed next:
-all motor belts, oil, fuel and air filters, oil etc., cam shaft belt was a ripoff, but has to be changed rarely,
-turbine service,
-gearbox service, first gear drops from speed,
-rear door looks beautiful, but is shattered inside,
-small electric and cosmetic repairs,
-left rear bearing changed, front ball joints changed,
that's about all.
General comments?
I'm trying not to get emotional about this rig, it's hard not to.
I've taken it in a pretty bad shape, I wouldn't even consider it, but got some parts with it, and it's chassis and engine were quite good. And I knew the previous owner.
Now it runs smooth, I've travelled about 10K in two months and I can say I like it. It does grow on you.
The engine isn't Porsche, but, unexpectedly for French, seems indestructible (J8S). Not too powerful though, that's probably why they all come with turbines.
I did drive it without turbine for a while and it ran smooth, but suffered above 2K8rpm.
