1974 MG Midget Mk 3 review from UK and Ireland
"Good, honest, little, open top sport car!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I am a classic fanatic so I can usually tell when something is likely to cause problems. Midgets need attention particularly to the twin SU Carbs, which once set should cause no problems. A series engine is bullet proof if regular oil changes are made.
I have recently rebuilt all the front suspension. Regreasing and regreasing cannot be emphasised enough with regards to the suspension.
Waxoxyl the whole car every year.
General comments?
Unless you are willing to work on a Midget, then do not, but one!
These cars are over 30 years old now and need some respect.
They keep up with modern traffic on by-passes etc, but stuggle with gearing on Motorways.
Interior is very cosy and the heater keeps you warm in winter.
Roof down completely transforms the car and you realise why you bought an MG Midget.
