1996 Nissan Sunny Super Saloon review from Kenya
"Buy the B14 Super saloon; cheap, reliable, comfy and fast if you are not afraid to step on it"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Shocks blew very quick. I blame that on African roads though. uprated the suspension with tougher coil springs and my next pair of shocks have almost 2 years now.
The brakes are a bit too soft for comfort on high speeds (p.s.96 model has no ABS)
Front and rear bumpers TOO soft! a slight bump and you are off to the panel beater!
Spontaneous high revving at idle once in a blue moon. Goes to 3000rpm without warning. problem 'goes away' for a month or so. dunno why.
General comments?
This car has taken me many many KMS of trouble free motoring. It gives you what you want: speed if you step on it; good gas mileage if you don't.
It is quite fast and has always beaten my friends' bigger, but comparable cars e.g. Toyota Premio, Galant etc.
Has good handling and is spacious (I have driven many mid-sized saloon cars) and the Sunny is A1.
Make sure you replace any parts it requires on time (CV joints etc)
I'm only selling it because I need a car with ABS and double airbags. Will miss it.
