1991 Ford Sierra LX review from UK and Ireland

Thermoswitch for the fan.

Thermostat.

Timing belt jumped a notch, but the engine was turning over so it didn't wreck the engine.

Door mirror housing fell off.

Welding a patch in the jacking point for MOT.

Clutch cable snapped.

This is a great car, its dead comfortable, the driving position is perfect.

I paid only £435 for the car and it has lasted 2 1/2 years of daily use.

The performance is a bit slow off the mark for a 1.8 but it really traps when you are in 3rd and 4th, the mid range and top end power is where its at. It would probably do about 115mph with a following wind.

The handling is not good in the wet, it would be perillous to drive it fast into a roundabout in the rain... However it is pretty sound in the dry so long as it has some decent quality tyres on the back. Nevertheless though it's a laugh a minute to drive more involving than say a fwd mondeo.

The parts are so cheap for this car it is unbelieveable, though obtaining things like bumpers and intrior bits is getting increasingly difficult. The bits for the engine you will be able to get forever.

Overall a great car, which I don't think the Mondeo lived up to. I would buy another particularly the 2.0.
