1978 Toyota Corolla ke33 review from Australia and New Zealand
"Can be fun, but will never be cool"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Alternator has gone 4 times.
Gasket has blown twice.
Replaced battery 4 times.
1 very annoying electrical gremlin. Was found to be a worn relay wire. I insisted the car electricians have another look why the car would suddenly die...
General comments?
The car colour is brown/orange, it's powered by a 'barely there' 1.2 ltr, 4cyl engine, 4 speed manual and wheels covered by hideous hubcaps.
The car has a very good turning cycle and is easy to steer. Most mechanics I've ran across are happy to tune/lubby the engine simply because it runs a carby.
The car originally came with some very narrow tyres and I would seriously recommend anyone ditch them for wider ones. I have skidded around corners in the wet and even felt in danger when on the freeway when its rained simply because of the inadequate grip.
The car stereo was easy to ditch for a newer CD player. This involved removing the centre console.
I've driven this car hard all over Melbourne and it hasn't really let me down, much.
