1990 Subaru Legacy RS review from Australia and New Zealand
"Cheap to buy.. expensive to run.. worse to repair"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Auto gearbox died.
Several lifters siezed.
Steering rack needed replacement.
4 wheel drive clutch seized.
General comments?
Brilliant open road car... but you have to pre-empt any hills with a manual downshift as the auto is too slow to respond.
Great dirt road abilities.. inspires loads of confidence with 4wd and ABS (a great safety net when Colin McCrae style antics go wrong!)
Extremely fast car... with soggy suspension.
Terrible MPG... can pass virtually anything except a petrol station.
