1998 Cadillac Catera review from North America
"OK, with quite a few problems"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Valve cover gaskets, coolant leak, 2 accidents (ehh...primarily my fault), air filter, brakes, rotors, electrical system.
General comments?
This car has been somewhat OK, for the 9 months I've owned it, after totaling the car. The valve cover gaskets are a very common problem among these cars, as are the wheel alignment and premature tire wear. Also, the BOSE sound system isn't as great as it should be, the highs and lows and mids are not that clear. For some strange reason, my headlights would sometimes stay on even after shutting off the car. I have set the daylight sensor to minimum, and still happens, even after 1 hr of the car being off. Almost drained the battery. Anyway, I guess I'm one of the many victims of the poorly-built catera, and I'm hoping that the saab 9-5 I'm getting is a good worth of the insurance money I recieved.
