2000 Kia Carens review from Indonesia
"The car that gave me a lot of problems"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I bought this new car from the dealer that was just established in 2000 as KIA entered Indonesia lately. Before, they cooperated with local manufacturer and branded their cars with local "Timor" brand.
I thought this car was reliable as I did not undertook any in-depth research before. But I was wrong.
Within the first 20,000 km, this car gave no problems for me. However, since then this car constantly gave me a lot of problems. First, there was a leakage in its power steering system, then its brake system, then its broken power window, then the cooling system.
It seemed that one of the most terrible problems happened to my Carens was the brake system as I had to change the discs instead of the pads. What was wrong with the metal quality of the brake discs, I didn't know. But according to my friends, KIA cars generally give you brake system problems.
So this car always gave me problems until I finally sold it difficultly to someone else. Why I called difficultly, because I had to wait for around 3 months to sell it since no one were interested to buy my KIA Carens.
General comments?
This car gave me a lot of problems, so I decided not to buy any KIA brands until maybe they improve the quality of their cars.
As happened to other Korean cars, its resale value was extremely low compared to its peers.
