2001 Peugeot 406 review from Hungary
"Great performance, handsome and reliable"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Minor faults in the first year (some electrical problems (e.g. false airbag error signal, automatic AC system fault, false error messages, etc.) All of them was repaired under guarantee.
Major fault (which caused the car stopped) has occurred at first time only at 190.000km!!! Reason: generator jammed, V-belt broke.
Second major fault at 210.000km: high-pressure Bosch diesel pump had breakdown (cannot be repaired, need to be replaced by a less used one).
General comments?
Excellent engine performance, extremely low fuel consumption (compared with e.g. 407HDI 136PS, VW Passat TDI, Mazda6).
Comfort on the front seats are great, less legroom at the back.
Actually I'm planning to buy a same, but with 2.2. HDI engine and less used.
