2000 Cadillac Catera sport review from North America
"Without question the worst car I ever owned"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Every 3 weeks it was in for service
-brakes
-alternator at 60,000
-sunroof every 4 months yep! 11 times
-transmission fault 3 times first at 125,000
-driver power window at 2 years and again at 3 years
many faults.
General comments?
What a piece of junk, 57 service calls in 4 years of ownership, 80 separate faults.
Power windows, windscreen, power sun roof, brakes, trim, radio, alternator, transmission, ignition switch, many other faults the list goes on.
Car sticker price was (Canadian) $48,000 when new; after 4 years & 168,000km the trade in was $5500 and I was lucky to get that.
The car was in the shop for service on average every 3 weeks during my ownership.
In fairness to the dealer, they fixed it each time it went in for service it just never stayed fixed.
The warranty was terrific for the first 80,000km.
Parts for this model cost a fortune
The words reliability and Catera should never be used in the same sentence: it is an oxymoron.
When not in the shop for service, it was nice to drive and handled well.
