1990 Honda Civic DX Special Edition review from North America
"I will only ever buy a Honda"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Replaced radiator @ 250,000kms; easy job did it with a friend in my driveway.
Replaced distributer cap @ 225,000kms; another driveway job, took 10 minutes.
Only consistent problem on this little gem was the inside door handles on both the front doors kept breaking (couldn't open door from inside) so I got sick of fixing it and started using the ones on the outside by rolling down the window. No wonder the window didn't come off its track.
Had a fair bit of rust, but I'm not one for washing my car and Canadian winters can be pretty gruesome. Overall rust never caused any problems.
General comments?
HUGE difference from my old car; always peppy on the road, handles like a little car should.
Excellent fuel economy car and manages great on the highway; perfect for students commuting.
This car was everything I needed for then length of time I had it. It needed few repairs and took a lot of abuse while managing to start time and time again.
Drove great in the winter and and was a cool little car for the summer.
Backseat, although more useful, is nowhere near as comfortable as the front seats.
