1999 Ford Fairmont AU review from Australia and New Zealand
"A good reliable family car, but be careful in the rain"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The steering column had to be replaced as soon as I got the car (under warranty).
The rubber lining on one of the rear passenger doors has started to fall off (had this fixed at my last service.
General comments?
It comes with very good features and is very comfortable.
This car has been very reliable with little trouble.
It is showing signs of age and has not kept its integrity as other cars of this purchase price should. I have owned a Honda Accord and it was still practically new after three years. The Ford is not in this class.
This model Ford have a serious problem with rear wheel spinning under acceleration when roads are wet. I have had many dangerous moments turning corners due to this. It can be fixed, but requires a change of rear suspension.
