2002 Chevrolet Cavalier Z-24 review from North America

Well when I first purchased the car in prince albert I was driving back to my hometown about 400 kms away... what do you know the passenger side power window stopped working, it didn't bother me to much, but I ended up getting a new swtich for it and it worked fine again, then at about 75,000 kms it stopped working again, this time I'm sure its the motor in the door...

My biggest thing with this car is the clutch, it is wierd, it vibrates, makes a funny noise when pushing it in/releasing, and the gears are very sticky... I'm thinking of getting a short throw shifter hoping this will fix the shifting issue... the dealership tried to tell me that it was my clutch actuator pipe that was broken or something like that and it was no big deal... but everyone I talked to has this problem with there cavy's...

Another thing I noticed is escpecially going up a hill, when I shift from 2-3 if I don't rev it up enough before shifting to 3rd the rpm's are to low and it makes a grinding noise, but the dealership told me that this was my valves rattling and not to worry it is normal... go figure, I'm almost tempted to just put a new clutch in it to see what would happen.

When it is really cold outside in the winter the shocks/struts are not very good, it can be bumpy if you don't slow down for the bad roads.

My brakes squeel often in my car, I thought it was the pads, but the dealership put all new brakes in when i bought it... I checked for myself, nothing was wrong with the brake system, I'm guessing gm has issues with there rotors, either that or dust.

DEALERSHIP SERVICE WAS VERY POOR!!!

I haven't had to sink any money into this car except for fixing the power windows wich is not covered by warranty, especially considering they stopped working the same day I bought it!

Other than that, gm told me that noise in the low rpm in 2nd gear was normal, and same with the wierd clutch, I just drive it and try to forget about the wierd clutch, but it takes a while to get use to..

This car is very reliable, has never failed me in anyway, has lots of power for my likings, and handles the roads good except the bumps in winter. I am very happy with this car, the mileage is about 400-450 kms to a tank in the winter and that's at about 40 bucks to fill when gas is 95.9/L.

Other than the clutch and the wierd noise in 2nd gear I am confident this car will last a very long time, the engine still runs as if brand spankin new.

I have talked to lots of people and they all say there z24's do the same thing... and most of them are well over 200,000 kms, so I don't think it really is a big deal in the end...
