1989 Peugeot 405 review from Australia and New Zealand
"A good fuel efficient car with adequate power and room that is fairly inexpensive and reliable"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Worn ball joint on gearbox selector.
Rough idle-vacuum/ecu problem.
Broken drivers window regulator.
General comments?
Impressive economy and range from 70 litre tank.
Engine still makes decent power and loves to rev even with so many k's and no mechanical issues despite the flogging it cops.
Good brakes and handling, however there is body roll when punting hard, but still chuckable. Steering could be quicker.
Impressive speed for a small engined medium size car. Will sort out a V6 from the lights, sustain 200km/h although overtaking requires a gearchange due to a tall 5th gear.
Nice, subtle, but handsome pininfarina design.
