1998 Dodge Stratus SE review from North America
"Nice family sedan that's quite reliable"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I've only had to replace the brakes once.
Rear left window won't go down from the driver's seat. Haven't repaired yet.
General comments?
The Stratus has been a very reliable car for me. I've owned it since early 1999 and have not changed the battery once... and it started without trouble even in below zero temperatures last winter. I've never had to repair any engine components yet and everything seems to be working fine-no whining, noises, or anything.
The 2.4L DOHC engine with 132hp is actually a little more responsive than I thought. I mean, it's no race car like the younger generation seems to think, but it does have decent acceleration in low rpms. The transmission likes to shift hard, but it has always been that way since I've owned it.
I'm 6' 5" and need some space. Unfortunately, this car is a little bit too small for me. I still can make myself comfortable after moving around a bit, though. It's always a smooth ride once I get comfortable with no loud road noise or bumps.
