1998 Ford Ranger XLT Supercab review from North America
"Overal well balanced work/play truck"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Transmission synchro for 3rd gear failed at 15,000 miles.
Wipers come on sometimes by themselves.
Has a misfire when cold that 2 separate Ford dealers and myself cannot find.
Suspension squeaks.
Interior lights stay on from time to time.
Rear axle let go at 105,000 miles.
General comments?
Overall a great truck for the money if your willing to overlook it's quirks.
Truck is a decent commuter with great gas mileage and fine looks. The 4 cylinder model is light on power when there is a load in the bed. My 1993 Ranger with a 4 liter V6 had more then enough power to tackle boats, loads of gravel and hill climbs.
This truck seems to be suffering from gremlins that most other Rangers do not have to deal with.
