2006 Chevrolet Impala LS review from North America
"A sharp looking and good performing car.."
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Power trunk pops open intermittently while driving.
General comments?
I bought the car mostly on its styling... as I grew up riding in my Dad's 1965 Impala... The 2005 has some of the classic Impala styling cues (though should have 6 taillights, not 4 to be true to Impala Heritage. I enjoy the car, Its black, LS, with the appearance package... rear spoiler, body colored taillight panel, lower body cladding, leather interior with compass, temp, and trip computer, which I like... The car has plenty of pep from its 200 HP 3.8 liter V6...The only concern I have is the design of the fuel filter connections... The front connection is traditional, held on with a nut... the rear connection is via a black flexible line leading to the fuel tank with a small gray plastic retaining clip that you have to push up with a screwdriver to release in order to pop the rear line loose... If you are a do-it-yourselfer, and break that clip, it is difficult to get... GM only lists the line itself as a replaceable part, which means dropping the fuel tank to replace the line from the tank to the filter...luckily, a mechanic had some clips laying around.. it took me 10 seconds to snap the new one in... Aside from all this, I am very satisfied with the car, I like its looks and performance and economy, which approaches 28-29 MPG on long trips.
