1992 Nissan Maxima gxe review from North America
"Great car, I will keep it as long as possible"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I've had good luck with this car.
General comments?
I was reading about problems with stalling, hesitation, and lack of power.
From my past experiences.
I have had cars with high mileage.
When a car has high mileage and starts to burn oil, or the O2 sensor starts to malfunction, it may clog the catalytic converter. If the cat clogs, the exhaust will not escape. It could blow out you exhaust manifold gaskets, or throw off your ignition timing. I suggest changing the cat, or bypassing it to see if the car runs better. Also test or replace the O2 sensor, and replace the fuel filter at regular intervals. The distributor cap, rotor, wires, and plugs will also cause hesitation. Another problem I had was hesitation on hills, and at warm temperatures. Well my truck had to fuel lines, one primary and one secondary. Sometime in the past someone swapped the two lines. My mechanic swapped them back and the trouble cleared. I'm not a mechanic by trade, I've just had many cars with high mileage. I hope this helps.
