1993 Mazda MX3 GS review from North America
"Worth every penny"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Well, to be honest, nothing really. I bought this car to auto-cross race in H stock class. The car handles great, rotates when you brake hard, very neutral at high speeds. Regular maintenance is about all that has been needed. The CV shafts are finally going out after TWO YEARS of racing this car! Last year I spun off of the road and it somehow cracked one of my oil cooler lines. Other than that, not a thing is wrong with it.
General comments?
I love this car. I can't believe Mazda had the guts to put a V6 in this tiny little car. The exhaust is nothing short of incredible. I've got a 2 1/4 inch cat-back exhaust on mine, and it's got a sound somewhere between a really bad ass sport bike, and an F1 race car. To put some more bite behind that bark, I've got a 2.5 liter engine sitting on a stand (hehe, some "modifications" are being made) in my garage. I expect to by very hard to beat. The car doesn't like to be lowered much, so if you are looking to retain the superb handling, don't over lower it. There isn't much aftermarket support, but being an obscure car also helps keeps you well off of the radar. ;)
