1996 Ford Taurus LX review from North America
"Don't buy a taurus!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Front wheel bearings went just after the warranty ran out.
Front right fender rusted out badly also just after the warranty ran out.
Transmission started shuddering about the same time (found out later about the problems ford has with the taurus trannies)
Brakes wear out quite often (I do mostly hiway miles)
Exhaust system (mostly the cat. converter) always has something to be replaced.
Power antenna just quit going up and down after a year.
General comments?
The car started having problems with the bearings just after I bought it. Took it to the dealer, but the mechanics there said there was nothing wrong that they could find. One road trip later when the warranty ran out they "suddenly" discovered that the wheel bearings were shot.
The car has been a money pit ever since.
It has turned me off Fords for good
