1994 Isuzu Trooper DOHC review from North America
"I love a car that you can count on"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I just replaced the trans at 198,000, but I do a lot of hauling, other than that I
do the main stuff my repairs myself, tie rods and brakes, but over all the parts are priced great and mostly easy to find, it's a great work truck because it'll always to get you to work and most important home again.
General comments?
I just wanted to say that my 1994 Trooper purchased in 2003 is a machine.
After owning American cars most of my life, I have never had a vehicle that just keeps asking for more. I think it deserves special treatment so I change the oil myself 98% of the time and treat if like part of the family.
As far as my American/Chevy experience, don't get me started, just problems after another and left on the highway more times than a hooker.
I've been in Vietnam and the cars running up those mountains and all over the country are foreign cars, I've never seen anything like it, and most of the cars had 180,000 to 200,000 + miles. In America, we now build cars to last 60,000 and they figure that's good, well not here buddy, if I'm paying a car/truck off, that sucker is going to be passed down to my kids as their first car, and then when I'm riding with them, I'll tell them all the good stories of her history and to let me know when it's the next three thousand mile amintenance is due.
I asked once in a quick change oil place when I first purchased the trooper, how are these trucks, the guy told me he sees these truck in here with 210,000 to 230,000 miles on them, I was hooked.
Let's face it, it's just a car/truck, but when it never let's you down, it's part of the family. So, if you see driving down the road smiling, well that's because I have no truck payment and my truck runs like a champ, an oldie, but a goodie, like my old man.
