1999 Isuzu Rodeo LS review from North America
"Solid reliable truck - Lots of Annoyances, ABS is Dangerous"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Fuel Sender @ 50K (reads empty with 1/2 tank left)
ABS Brakes @ 40K (These are dangerous... even after recall update => disable ABS ASAP)
Rear Window Noise (will drive you nuts)
Factory suspension is garbage (feels you crash into a wall going over a small bump)
Drivetrain is decent (dana 44 rear) really drives like a truck.
4wd is good and fun to drive in snow.
Burns Oil... 1 quart at least every 3k miles. Isuzu says this is normal.
General comments?
Lots of annoyance... but it's actually been a very reliable/ relatively comfortable vehicle once the ABS was turned off.
ABS should not be trusted... even after the recall fix. ABS kicked in one time while braking under normal conditions (coming off a highway ramp) towing a boat. Pedal went to the floor. If I hadn't bailed onto the median with the rig... the boat would have been married to the rodeo permanently. Thank god for the manual tranny and downshifting.
