1998 Ford Taurus SE Wagon review from North America
"Nice car to drive, but too many problems which cost big bucks"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Brakes and rotors have been changed twice
Driver side power door lock problems which have been "repaired" at least six times!
Power steering pump changed at 104000 km and three days later the steering rack needs repairing, which I see from previous reviews is a really common problem.
Electronic problems, which after 4 visits to the Ford dealer over a 1 month period was traced to a sensor of which the first new sensor failed after three days and then we had to get another replacement which thankfully still works at 104000 km.
General comments?
The car has good performance on the road.
Bad fuel economy this thing really sucks gas.
Little quality control things have gone wrong since we have owned it, screws falling out rivets on the roof rack popping out.
Now the power steering and rack problems.
