2005 Honda Jazz i-DSI review from Indonesia
"Amazingly efficient"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Everything seems fine.
General comments?
I bought this hatchback to replace my old Corolla that I had already used for more than 12 years.
Honda promoted that its i-DSI engine is very efficient. It even can run for 20 km for 1 litre of gasoline.
In the first month, I used it mostly for home-office travel (24 km return) on weekdays. I tested out its engine efficiency and found out that it consumed 1 litre gas for only 11 km. I was surprised by the fact.
I tried to join a local Jazz users community in the internet and found out that maybe my driving behaviour impacts its fuel efficiency.
After having advice from other users, I tested the car in the highway. Before testing, I filled the gas tank fully and set the tripmeter to zero. I run for about 48 km, stop at the gas station and filled the tank fully again.
What I found was very amazing, I only needed to refill 1.9l gas. It means that the car consumed only 1 l gas for 25 km. It was more than I expected.
So I concluded that if you want your Jazz to run for 25km/l gas, you have to keep the engine at a maximum of 2000 rpm. Jazz can easily run at 80km/h at 2000 rpm with the highest gear.
For a conventional car (not hybrid), I believe no other similar cars can beat Honda Jazz.
