1979 Ford Cortina TE s-pack Limited Edition #083 review from Australia and New Zealand

"What a freak! now I have some good rubber to drive on... c'ya l8ter VS 5.0L.."

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Only had the car about 4 weeks and the first thing was it dropped the 'drivers side lower ball-joint', that let go coming out of a corner. Lucky I was only doing about 15-20km/Ph at the time. about 10 min before that I was out on the highway giving it a blast - could have been very ugly!

Next thing was the 4spd box... that went when I was out of town, 260 KS away! that sucked! I think it chewed the bearings, due to engine being above average. Got 2nd hand one from mate in Adelaide for $100.00 and put it in myself.

General comments?

Stage 3 crow cam.

Yella Terra rockers.

Oversised valves, polished and shaved head.

Custom pushrods - due to Cam.

Flat-top pistons.

Ballanced crank.

Weber 2 barrel carb with Huge jets.

Pacemaker extractors into 2 1/2" system, 1 box, 1 hotdog.

Engine was built about 5 years ago and has done approx 40.000 km, if that. Professionally built by a mechanic that I was working with last year at a Ford dealership. It cost him about $5000.00 to build.

I got it by swapping my XF falcon (good nick, low Km, mags, 200 cross-flow) and $2000 cash. He sold my XF for $1500, so I paid $3500 which I think is pretty good, - $5000 engine, $1500 paint job, dragway mags ect...

Has no problem being as quick as AU SVO 250 with intake and extractors... and that's running my Corty on 185's!!! all it dose is spin off the line, can't get any traction until 2nd, and then you still have to watch you don't put your foot down too much!
