1994 Chrysler Concorde LX? review from North America

"Great car, buy it - they tend to be cheap!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The headlight switch knob is broken so I can pull it off (although it stays on) and the light behind it does not turn on when the rest of the dash lights go on, but two good whacks right above the switch and it turns on.

The driver's seat is a power seat, an the motors are very weak, they can't move both me and the chair, so I move with it.

Apparently the long rubber seal is missing under my hood, letting water into my heater core, so if I don't run the heater every day or so the air that comes out smells disgusting.

The driver side window motor seems weak.

My front end lower ball joints got worn out after a while of driving, and so did one of the little rubber bushings on the steering mechanism.

My A/C belt slipped off and got caught. It must have burned because there was a lot of black dust all over my engine.

When I got the car, the Chrysler emblem and the word "CONCORDE" were missing on the back.

I can notice the slightest little bit of knocking when I listen closely, although it doesn't bother me at all.

General comments?

This car has treated me well. Although it's no sports car, it still has great acceleration. And I love the style of the car, it's sleek and modern, while still having an actual grille and a fair amount of chrome. My brakes are fairly worn out, yet I still have great stopping power, great for avoiding accidents. It also has a good steering capability, I can make pretty sharp turns and big swerves when I need to avoid something or someone.

Inside the car is also stylish and incredibly roomy. I love the cleverly-placed wood grain along the dash. From the outside, one might think it is somewhat crampt inside, but no. I'm 6'1" (and somewhat large) and I feel quite comfortable inside. Even the back seats have lots of room. Most cars today can't properly fit someone about 6' tall in the back seat, but in this car, the passengers have plenty of room over their heads.

The climate control system is seriously my dream come true. Wonderfully easy to use, while maintaining all the options, and it's automatic! You select a specific temperature in degrees and hit the Auto button and the car does the rest, switching the vents and controlling the fan. Or you can control the fan and vent modes as you wish. In the winter (for example) when you have the heat on and turn off the car, the next morning when you start the car, the heat will not be on. Instead, the computer turns on the fan in proper increments as your engine warms up, keeping you from getting colder!

One of the first things I noticed when I first drove this car was its smooth ride and quiet cabin. Yet you can still get the thrill of a roaring engine when you floor it.

And I'm running this car on E85! That's 85% ethanol and 15% gas. No problems so far, after all this engine should have been built for premium gas.

So far, I've had no major... or even minor problems with the engine and transmission.

My dad bought this car for $300 and put about $200 parts in it, although he never specified for what. He offered this car to me and I gladly accepted. I really like how Chrysler made this Concorde between the categories of small foreign cars and big American cars, delivering performance, size, comfort, style, luxury, and efficiency all in one car.
