2005 Audi A3 review from North America
"Kills the BMW 325 for a living"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
- horn not working due to tinkering by prior owner (car was corp-owned Certified Pre-Owned)
- failed coil-pack due to detailer's washing of engine
- broken sunroof shade latch (known issue with TSB)
- rattling sounds from sunroof (may be related to above issue)
General comments?
Car is a 2006 Model Year A3 2.0T 6sp manual with sports package, leather, and open-sky.
Combination of torque, smooth shifting, and conti sport contact2s make this a car which can keep up with the best of the breed off the line. Having the best possible tires is critical in this car.
Much different feel than other Audis, much livelier, less vault-like, I guess more VW-like. Interior not up to Audi par, but still better than any other manufacturer in my opinion.
Getting 26mpg on average (I thought I would be getting 30mpg+ when I bought the car).
