1970 Dodge Van B-300 review from North America
"Super workhorse"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Replaced Heads at about 100,000 miles
Engine at 200,000
trans at about 250,000.
General comments?
OK this is a seriously old truck. Purchased from an auto parts warehouse in 1973, at two years old with 80,000 hard miles on the clock. But at $900 for a two year old 1 ton Maxi-van, couldn't pass it up. This truck has been through parts delivery, off roading, a stint in the Air Force, numerous moves my own and friends, and it's latest incarnation as power for a twenty foot car trailer.
This old truck has recovered cars one tenth it's age and is ready for more.
The fuel mileage could be better at 12 to 15 mpg, but it's no longer primary transportation so I live with it. Power is great for a small V-8, have used it to unstick my Freightliner more than once.
It's a little tired, but is going to get one more refresh, probably a later 360 in place of the 318, and some front disc brakes from a newer van. Then some insulation, the old vans do drum on the freeway.
Been a great truck over the years.
