1993 Chrysler Grand Voyager LE review from Norway
"Comfortable ride with a lot of space to spare!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Automatic gear box bust
Water pump had to replace
Head gasket blown.
General comments?
Decent performance from the 3.3L engine, rides comfortably and spacious enough for up to 7 people.
3rd row backseats are a little narrow for big adults, but for children or small adults it quite OK.
I had some bad luck with this car, the transmission gave out on me after I had it for about 3 months, I suspect this fault was on it already when I bought it, because the selled was insisting on changing the transmission oil before I got to test drive it. Transmission is now rebuilt into an reinforced type, and shift computer updated to latest version.
Water pump developed a leak and made a nice fountain under the hood. Relatively easy to fix.
Now the head gasket has blown, and exhaust gases are coming out into the cooling water, making it "spit" water inbetween, but I am going to get it fixed shortly.
Fuel consumption relatively high though, with 11-12 liters per 100 km.
Overall I am happy with the car, despite the problems I have had. I picked it up cheap (about half of the normal list price), and even with the cost of the repairs I had to put in, I still end up under the average list price.
