2004 Proton Perdana review from Malaysia
"Below expectation - Proton can do better than this!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Rattling noise on the meter cover
Battery changed within 1 year of ownership
Wind noise at speed above 120km/h.
Rubbing spinning tyre (?) noise at speed above 125km/h - even the service center could not explain.
Occasionally, transmission gear doesn't engage especially if gas pedal is press immediately after putting gear into D - have to wait 3-4 seconds.
Sudden shiftdown of gear, especially going down hill.
Alignment need to be done frequently - or some camber adjustment problem causing uneven wear of tyres.
Poor stereo system. Extreme cost cutting measures makes this so called new facelift model worst that previous model.
Poor resale value - I'll lose about RM40K if I sell it now, after 2 years of ownership.
Boring to drive.
General comments?
Nothing really spectacular about this car. I suppose it's an old technology given a new facelift.
Dissappointed with overall poor quality control by Proton. I bought this car to help the country's industry and yet I get sour lemon...
