1999 Mercury Cougar review from North America
"I have a bittersweet feeling; next will be the Civic coupe :)"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
My biggest complaint on this car is the electronic windows. I have gotten them fixed twice, but they continue to stick.
I did have to plug up the transmission a few years ago, but it did not need replaced so that saved me some money.
The biggest expense was last year's inspection, when I had to replace the head gasket. That ran me $1,100. The worst part was that the mechanic did a shotty job and didn't replace the oil pan correctly and made oil leak, but this has nothing to do with the car, just poor maintenance.
I've had a bittersweet relationship with this car, but the good times have outweighed the bad.
General comments?
It is a reliable vehicle. Always gets me from A to B. Like I said, my longest running complaint has to do with electronics, and I would rather have that than mechanical issues.
Handles well and is GREAT in the snow.
However, it is kind of small and not very roomy. My boyfriend is 6'6" and has a hard time getting into the driver's seat. Not a lot of head room. But I'm not too tall so that's fine by me.
