1996 Subaru Outback review from Australia and New Zealand
"It owes me, bigtime!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Engine overheated, major meltdown. Spent $2800 on engine repairs (heads planned, new valves, waterpump, cam belt, tensioner/pulley, radiator, waterpump, thermostat x2 etc etc).
Drive any more than 60km and the temperature would start to increase. Due to my mechanic's effort and honesty, he found the problem to be a blocked heater radiator. A simple flush has fixed problem. He was at the frustrating stage of either stripping down or replacing the engine when he found answer, on the Web!
Possible design fault?, Don't know, but thanks to my mechanic's integrity and others posting solutions, a lot of time and effort was saved.
General comments?
Typical Subaru, but still cheaper to run than the wife!
