1962 Morris Minor review from UK and Ireland
"You should own one at least once"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I bought it after it had been parked in a garage for 15 years. it needed plenty of welding and the engine was seized. diesel down the bores and leaning on a power bar on the crank pulley loosened it up and it ran perfect!
General comments?
These must have been way ahead of their time when launched in 1948- the steering still feels wonderfully precise today and they are simplicity itself to work on (apart from the underfloor master cylinder) and benefit from excellent parts availability and good fuel economy (40+mpg)
not very fast, but with only around 1000cc to propel it its not going to be. capable of sitting at 70 but happier at 60. one area they show their age is with the all drum braking system, I found it dreadful. all the same, its worth owning one just for the farty PARP! noise they make when changing gear and on the over run.
