2000 Suzuki Esteem GLX review from Philippines

I drive a 2000 Suzuki Esteem Wagon GLX and I find it to be very reliable and fun to drive. It has been with me for almost 6 years already and since then I haven't had any problems with it.

It was only last year that my VELOCITY JOINT rattled so it had to be replaced. However, there is always a squeaking noise heard when I tap the brakes lightly, even though I have changed my brake pads a couple of times. I switched from the OEM Pads to Racing Pads, and to softer, more quiet pads, yet I still get the high pitched squeak every so now and then. Aside from that, no problems whatsoever.

Gas consumption on the other hand is acceptable, yet the value I get from POWER:CONSUMPTION is inadequate for me. 7Km/L for a 98 HP 1.6L engine which hums its way through the highway is a far cry from a V6 engine.

Overall, even though it's not a drifter or a dragger, it's fun to drive, reliable with a smooth ride and easy to squeeze in through tight places and park. Oh.. did I mention cabin space? It's OK if you're Filipino. Hahaha.

Gas Consumption: COST:VALUE= not that happy

Power/Performance: Not bad, tops up at 130Kms/Hr, but pulling power is depreciated with 3-4 people and a full tank of gas in it.

Maintenance: Suzuki is a minority in my country, so parts are a bit pricey like a Nissan.

Ride: The ride is good, but not best, yet no so bumpy

Looks: Compared to Korean Wagons, this one's a looker. It also looks a VOLVO V40 from the rear!

Paint: A bit thin, but mine started chipping off at 2004. So a good 4 years for the paint.
