1993 Toyota Corolla Lxi review from United Arab Emirates

The exhaust (filter) just fell off at around 120k.

5 days after replacing the exaust the 'Spring' of the exhaust blew-making a very bad noise.

Front and rear shocks replaced at around 150k.

Had the carburetor cleaned at 200k (the 'jet' got somethg in it)

Both axles replaced at round 220k (made a real

embarrassing sound when turned)

Paint started 2 wear out leaving rust and a very rough surface surrounded by disfigured white circles 3yrs after purchase frm 1999.

The thing with this car is that I had the gear box changed from manual to automatic and the engine from 1.3 to 1.6L- trust me Don't EVER do that if you don't have a trusted mechanic, my life really got a lot more complicated after I had the gearbox and engine changed, I used this car as a single owner and usually drove on dirt roads and that really messed up the carburetor-a thing to note here is that if you ever buy a corolla always buy an injector engine-don't buy a carburetor coz if the carburetor's jet or whtever gets dirty its expensive to clean-very very slow and precision work needed (only by a pro or someone who knows what he's doing) -coz if you mess up the springs or the jet or whtever while reinstalling you start the car and the rpm jumps 2 8X and stays there seriously damaging the pistons-believe me I speak from experience-an injector engine requires a pressure clean and you r done/IF it causes you any problem. Word of advice here- it would be a very good idea to buy a used car in its original factory condition (no major changes),coz as I figure if the car has any major job done on it like engine/transmission it is very likely that it'll need a trip to the garage very soon.
