1952 Ford Customline Fordor review from Netherlands

"It just goes and goes and goes and goes..."

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Because I bought this car without any history data.

The correct mileage is unknown to me.

I can only talk about the last 2 years:

I've driven 9000 kilometres in this car during the past 2 years. It only left me stranded twice:

- A leak in one of the radiator hoses

- Dirt in the carb

That's all.

General comments?

The car is assembled in Europe, probably in Antwerp or in Amsterdam.

The car has probably been shipped in from the USA in parts ("Completely Knocked Down").

The speedometer etc. are in Kilometres, not in Miles.

The Ford flathead V8 is unbelievably reliable.

Just make sure to do the maintenance every now and then and it just won't break down!

The Ford-o-matic transmission will undergo a total revision this autumn/winter. It's leaking.

Engine-parts are widely available.

Body-parts, including the chrome parts, are very difficult to find.

I have so much faith in this car that I will drive it all across western Europe one of these years. Despite its age.

It's surprisingly steady on the road.

Thanks to the huge steering-wheel, it's easy to park.

Up to 80 km/h (50 mp/h) it outruns a lot of modern cars!

Needless to say: the car is an absolute head-turner.
