1978 Ferrari 308 GT4 review from North America
"This is a DREAM come true"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Electrical System Glitches all went away with a BRAND NEW Battery!
General comments?
"One of the best handling cars ever to come out of Maranello! Simply blows many 12 cylinder cars into the weeds." "Drive a healthy GT4 and you will probably buy her... It's as simple as that!"
She had black "Boxer" trim which made her look like a broken cookie. A new paint job makes her look like a DREAM!
At 50 years "old," I finally found the Ferrari for me after having hunted for 20 years... This is the most fun car I've ever driven. She's not the fastest, but with the sun roof open and the 4 webers signing their song, she begs to be driven fast on the twisties! But she is so easy to drive in town and, if you've got the time, there are plenty of people willing to chat everytime you're at the store or gas station.
The engine and tranny were rebuilt 20K miles ago by Carlos Durante in Seattle. The cost for that 12 month (!) project ran over $21K alone. The entire interior was redone in thick 2 tone leather and the car was repainted from bare metal. The project is finished.
Presently, the A/C has been removed, and there is no radio. All hoses have been renewed and timing belts replaced.
Find a good GT4 and take care of her. Drive her at least once a week and she will prove that FERRARIS HAVE SOUL! It's as simple as that!
