1994 Isuzu Trooper S review from North America
"Good car. durable. strong. unbreakable"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Oil seeps out of oil covers. Car consumes about 1 quart between 3,000 mile oil changes.
Had to replace all water hoses at about 90K miles. Not bad.
Break wear was standard.
Automatic transmission interlock (which prevents from shifting into Reverse unless the knob is depressed) has failed. It is now possible to shift directly into reverse at any speed. This is a potentially dangerous situation. We try to avoid it.
Four wheel drive works as original.
Power steering hoses just went (120K miles).
Overall, the car is a tank. I plan on buying a newer model at a later date.
We haven't had the roll-over problems associated with Consumer Reports write-up several years ago. I feel that was operator induced.
I'd recommend getting a used Trooper to beat new car over-pricing.
General comments?
Good overall performance. perform regular (3,000 mile oil/fluid changes) is best way to avoid problems.
We noticed no manufacturer flaws / defects.
There is an after-market third row seat that has three additional seats. we used is many times.
