1967 Holden HR Standard review from Australia and New Zealand
"Classic, beautiful and tough"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing yet as I have only just purchased the car. Needs a new glovebox, and some new window rubbers wouldn't go astray. Totally rust free.
General comments?
A not so standard Standard.
I had been after a Torana, but decided to look to earlier model Holdens as Torana prices have skyrocketed recently. I spotted this beautiful HR sitting in a car yard and had to give it a home.
The previous owner has had a bit of fun with it, its running a 202 with extractors and electronic ignition, the battery has been relocated to the boot, it has front disk brakes and its been painted british racing green. It has the HR visor, which I will be taking off ASAP and will be replacing the standard wheels with 15inch volvo rims.
All in all, these are excellent cars. They are classics, they turn heads, they are great to drive and because they share the engine and running gear with so many other Holden models, they can be fixed up very cheaply.
