2000 Opel Astra Sport XE irmisher review from UK and Ireland
"Sporty, average with small engineering faults"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Head Gasket is going to go very soon obviously leads to water and starter problems. Will go after 60000k this leads to heat problems.
Front left headlight continuously blows.
Central locking died.
Horn gone.
Air bag light always on.
Sluggish when gearing up early.
Brake pads after 4000 had to be replaced anyway.
3000 rpm = 60 mph highly geared.
Reverse gear is a challenge.
High optimum torque rpm's.
General comments?
For my first car it is really perfect, I have seemed to be quite unlucky so far, but I have found a few mechanical problems deterring me away from opel's fan base.
Quick tho, when you get it into 2nd and 3rd really entices you to keep the foot down. flies on motorway, 110mph no problem, but gets a touch noisy and fuel economy really suffers when you push it, but when driven normally expect 38-40 mpg. what more can you ask for.
oh and the rear side windows fog up, very annoying
But a sporty cool car for my first...
