1989 Ford Falcon EA review from Australia and New Zealand

"Under-rated reliable, comfortable and quick old beast"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Front rotors warped.

Clutch pedal clip broke.

Visor clip broke.

It seems to keep losing water through the over-flow when it gets hot, so I have to keep it topped up.

That's it.

General comments?

This car is a rare 5 speed manual multi-point injected station wagon. I've owned the car for 40,000 kays and just before I bought it, it had a engine reco (which wasn't actually necessary at the time I'm told).

This car has been fantastic. It's been professionally lowered and for a wagon it corners great. Nothing major has gone wrong with the car at all.

I do over 1000 kays a week in this wagon and it has never complained. I get at least 600 highway kays to a tank and it performs really well. I was suprised how punchy it was, especially being a wagon.

It is very quick off the line, and especially quick with overtaking.

It's very comfortable to drive and has loads of room for all my band gear. It's been debadged and really looks good.

This car is really bulletproof. It's done 319,000 kms, but it is as straight as.

This is my 5th Falcon (EA sedan, EL sedan, XF panel van, AU ute, and this one) and I've found the common problems with them to be very minor and they are generally a well built car.

My only complaint is that on bumpy roads it's a bit rough and nervous in the rear, but that's probably because of the lowered suspension.
