1999 Mazda Millenia review from North America

I purchased a brand new 1999 Mazda Millenia for all the luxurious bells and whistles it had: leather seats, seat warmers, sun-roof, cd player, remote key access. What a deal for the price until all those things that made it luxurious stopped working right after the 3 year warranty ran out. The key alone would’ve cost $400.00 to replace. The sun-roof will open, but then cannot close—another $400.00 to fix. The seats stopped getting warm, the cd player stopped playing cds. I’ve taken it for every maintenance, service and oil change, yet every 3 months since it reached 60,000 miles, it’s been in the shop. It has 86,000 miles now, but I have a laundry list of things that have broken and cost an arm and a leg to replace. The water pump had to be replaced. So did the fuel filter, distributor, all the spark plugs (over and over and over) again. It has been tuned up, yet ALL the belts broke—I didn’t even know there was more than one belt that could break. The car has broken down in the middle of traffic. Now it simply won’t accelerate and needs a new air flow meter. I have had to replace everything under the hood except the engine. I’m waiting for the transmission to go so I can simply set fire to it and put it and me out of our misery. I would never get another Mazda and I feel the utmost sympathy for anyone who does.

I have nothing good to say about this car except it looked pretty when I drove it home.
