1999 Plymouth Voyager LE review from Mexico

"If you want a Minivan, Mopar is the only way to go"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Driver's door light switch

Tie rod end due to curb/tire shock.

General comments?

My parents bought this 1999 Voyager new and I bought it from them to replace my fantastic 1996 Dodge Stratus. The vehicle is very roomy and comfortable, on the delivery trip to my place I drove it for 5 hours in a coastal highway and I found out the driving position is perfect the engine is very smooth like if it was an electric car and the handling was fantastic, had to evade a Nissan Altima that was speeding, when the Altima saw a Highway Patrol driver slammed the brakes and I was behind him, did a sudden lane change @ 65 mph and vehicle was in perfect control even with the added weight.

Handles a lot as the Dodge Stratus, larger brakes do an excellent job and the ABS system is fantastic. I like a lot the styling and overall package, fit and finish is better than the Stratus and it's got lots of beverage holders, it has fantastic coin holders, plenty of space for accessories like my AC power inverter, it has a very powerful HVAC system that cools the whole passenger cabin in a very short time.

The 3.3L V6 engine is bulletproof and the 41TE trans-axle is a fantastic performer as long as you don't overload it or let it overheat (a transmission cooler is required for trailer towing), as long as you use ATF+3 from Chrysler store ($4 bucks for a quart, down here in Mexico).

It's great to have this vehicle since it has been a very reliable hardware. It had a small accident with a curb, tire was damaged beyond repair and needs a Tie Rod End due to a thumping sound on the front suspension, found the fix here on this site :)
